Red dot or iron sights—which is actually better on a pistol?
John and Paul break down the real advantages and disadvantages of both sighting systems, including threat-focused shooting, common optic-mounting mistakes, draw-stroke consistency, aging eyes, first-round speed, follow-up shots, target transitions, and shooting at distance.
They also tackle one of the biggest training questions surrounding pistol optics: Should a new shooter master iron sights first, or start with a red dot from day one?
John and Paul completely disagree on that point—and neither one is willing to give it up easily. But when the entire shooting experience is considered, they eventually reach a clear conclusion about which sighting system wins overall.
