The pistol, rifle, as well as knife, and close quarters classes are wonderful. I believe it would be a great addition to have a combat shotgun class. I know I would benefit. Please let me know your thoughts on this. Thank you for all your hard work and dedication, and especially keeping Jesus first!
I wholly agree with you, especially for a homesteader. The shotgun is quite versatile and shouldn't be ignored.
I would love to see this on the network. I understand that the general consensus is "get an AR" but I would still love to see "here's the best way to use this tool"
Well frequently the AR isn’t the best tool for the job.. I live on a 300 acre homestead on a salmon stream in Alaska.. I usually carry an 870 with a variety of different ammos on it. That old shotgun has stood between me and grizzlies, me an ornery cow moose, me and meth head tresspassers (3 times in the past year on that one), put countless water fowl and up land birds on the table, and just last weekend vaporized with a BB Blackcloud steel shot load a squirrel and porcupine that was threatening to get into my grandmothers house who is deathly afraid of rodents.. The AR would have been inappropreate to shoot several of these things with. Running .223 up in a tree to dispatch squirrels is a definite rule 4 violation, good luck shooting birds with it.. So on and so on..
I think a “Homesteaders Shotgun” course would be very valuable! Especially since they are far and above the most complex weapon system to run!
I asked about shotgun classes on a Patreon Q&A a couple months ago. John said that they would love to offer a shotgun class, but they need to find an instructor who fits in with the WPS ethos and meets their standards.
Hopefully in the future we'll get something going.
Rob Haught doesn't fit the bill?
I don't know,. you'd have to ask John :-D
Heck, I’ve taught LEO Shotgun for the State of Alaska for near 15 years, and I’m a Christian fella that falls into their company culture.. Wonder if they’d let me teach a class for them as an adjunct instructor…
I would also love to see a shotgun course on the network. Some people may think it's dated, but it still serves an important role in the arsenal.
I just got a certain Mossberg recently so would like to take a pump shotgun class before year's end. That plus the likes of bolt and lever action rifles would help even out the battery of arms. Gonna put a sling on said Mossberg and get a light for it next.
I recently pulled my Shotgun out of the safe and it is now my primary home defense weapon. I would love a future shotgun course. Thank you John for all you offer us here at WPS. Ive taken a couple classes in AZ. Look forward to more offerings.
Just returned to WPSN after a while away specifically to see if shotgun was offered. I enjoyed the pistol, rifle, and long range courses. I would love to see a shotgun series as well.
Tactical Response in TN (James Yeager's outfit) does shotgun classes. If I get a reliable shottie, I'm going there for at least a few classes.
