John Lovell has been “fired”—sort of.
John is no longer handling the day-to-day management of Warrior Poet Society. He remains the founder, owner, creative voice, and driving force behind the mission, but he has handed operational leadership to one of his closest friends: Chris Speten.
In this conversation, John and Chris explain why the change was necessary, how their friendship began before they had ever met, and why Chris moved across the country to help plant a church with a man he barely knew.
Chris also shares the unlikely path that prepared him to lead Warrior Poet Society—from working in a warehouse and managing sales teams to overseeing major construction projects, serving as an executive pastor, and now becoming president of WPS.
They also reveal three of the largest operational changes in Warrior Poet Society history:
• A new e-commerce platform
• New offices and studio space in Rome, Georgia
• A dedicated WPS warehouse designed to provide faster, more accurate shipping
This is not John walking away from Warrior Poet Society. It is a major leadership transition intended to strengthen the organization, improve the customer experience, and expand the impact of the WPS mission.
