I have always thought that girl scouts was more focused on grinding out cookie sales than actual meaningful education for young girls. Trail life looks like a wonderful faith based scouting activity for boys and I am wondering if there are any alternatives for girls.
Benjamin, American Heritage Girls sounds what you are looking for. https://americanheritagegirls.org/.
I had looked at their page, I haven't met anyone yet that has direct experience with them yet. I still have a few more years until my daughter is old enough though.
i was a troop master for TL for many years and we ran along side an American Heritage Girls group. It was an awesome experience for them. We had meetings at the same time as they did, but there was not a lot over lap. I only had sons, no daughters, but they would be included in alot of the functions we did
My church has a growing Trail Life group that I have become a part of and my wife is working with a couple other women to start an American Heritage Girls troop at our church this year. The current plan is that they will do a lot of camping trips and activities alongside TL. So far it seems promising and perhaps a good equivalent to TL. I think with all of these type of groups, as long as they have a good foundation, they can be pretty flexible to what the leadership wants them to be. I will try to remember to post an update on how it goes, maybe get her opinion after a year of running an AHG troop. If I forget feel free to ping this chat again; I will follow it so I get notified.
