I recently started carrying AIWB. One concern I have is that the gun seems to constantly point towards my groin area which violates firearm safety rules. I'm using a Tenicor Certum holster. Has anyone else experienced this? Any advice? Thanks y'all.

Any holster, at any point, is going to violate gun safety rules. I mean, as long as you carry with one in the chamber, which is a practice known as "the only reasonable way to carry a gun", and a practice I highly encourage.

Think about a OWB holster at 3 o clock on your waist (if you're right handed): Have you ever walked on the upper floor of a traditionally constructed house? Where people on the 1st floor? Do you think a sheet of 3/4" plywood sheathing and 1/2" of drywall would stop a round from going downstairs if your gun went off? It won't. You know that.

The true morality and justice of AIWB is that it says "I'm the sort of person who is SO dedicated to not accidentally discharging my firearms, that I'll put my own groin on the line for it".

In all seriousness though, a decent holster should always cover the trigger completely. There should be no possibility of it going off without that trigger being depressed. Where you could get into trouble is in the holstering of that firearm. If you are uncomfortable with that, you can (A) holster the firearm outside of your pants with muzzle pointed safely away. (B) Cock the holster forward and away from yourself during holstering (C) Be really careful.

I'm a (C) guy. When I'm carrying external hammer pistols, I hold the hammer back with my thumb when holstering. But the reality is that carrying a loaded firearm is dangerous, like driving, or working on roofs, or drinking raw milk. There's risks we choose to take for the benefits they provide. You need to decide if AIWB carry is one of those risks you're willing to take.
