Have any of you seen it yet?
John....if you're reading this.....
I can say with at least a medium amount of authority.......as a former semi-pro XC mtb racer, and currently a professional photographer.........that was well executed!
Perfect? No. And I'm only saying that because I know you're a perfectionist and would want honest feedback.
Entertaining, and visually appealing? YES!
I've watched alot of MTB flicks over the years....many on endurance cycling......and this hit all the essentials in that type of film. Ultra racing is just flat out wicked. It's usually more mental than physical. Jeff definitely had the mental drive to complete that race. He focused on the positives and knew how to tell his aches and pains to shutup. I especially admire the fact he came from a different background and started cycling only a year before the race. I can't wait to see him come back and do it again! I won't say anymore and spoil it for the rest of you. I will say that this type of movie may be hard to fully appreciate if you've never participated in an endurance sport, but the cinematography is still captivating. The landscape was beautiful. Jeff is a super likeable guy. The progression of the story holds your attention even if you've never been into any form of cycling. That's what makes it a great flick.
