Anyone here using a Byrna or less lethal? Pepperball/teargass or projectiles? They can get amped up to some serious joules but then carry them more places, and not face the legal and political target status of gun as they are considered air launchers.
My issue with the Byrna is that is looks like a firearm and therefore you can expect the possible issues related using/displaying something that looks like a firearm. I wish they made it a different shape.
I’d really like to get one too, but I agree with David that the shape could lead to problems. For those of us in less than free states, the question remains of whether they can be concealed because they are the shape of a firearm. Stupid issue? Yes, but this is the world we live in today. Another problem is that, while they’re legal in all states, some states have outlawed projectiles of certain sizes. Yes, these laws are in place due to people committing crimes with realistic looking paintball guns and some police have no problem with responsible citizens carrying a Byrna, but other officers and prosecutors would nail good people for defending themselves with a less than lethal “projectile of unacceptable size.” It’s absurd to think that spraying someone with pepper spray is considered a proper form of defense, but hitting them with a pepper ball isn’t.
All that said, I wouldn’t mind having one just for plinking in the yard.
Check out, Hero 2020. They are less expensive than Byrna and look mor like a space blaster than an actual fire arm. Jesse Kelly promotes them and his daughter even has a testimony of using it.
