Hey all,
Im going through range ammo like crazy here but, gnerally speaking when im standing and firing my AR's im shooting left about 2 inches. this is very consistent at least.

Does anyone know how to correct this? Is it possibly because im not pushing my stock shoulder out enough to support the gun? there are a lot of guides to assist pistol accuracy and troubleshooting the whys but I cant seem to find anything on Rifles.

Thinking about it some - what if you were shooting right, or high or low etc. Any general reasons for this? it was very quick and not clear in Rifle 1 and id like to get more info on it.

Do you get the same result shooting in other positions? (benched, kneel, sit)

Benched, no. But havent tried kneeling or sitting actually.

The first thing I would look into is "natural point of aim". The rifle wants to shoot somewhere and our job is to not get in the way.

Assume your position. Close your eyes. Take 3 deep breaths with your eyes shut. Open your eyes and see where sights are. Then play with shifting your body in that position. After shifting repeat the exercise to see how you have moved your natural point of aim. Moving your foot a half inch will have a bigger impact than you think it should. That's where I would start. Luckily because you've shot it benched you know it's not the gun or ammo. So that's good.

Something else to look at is if you are tilting the rifle to the left the way you are presenting it. If the optic and barrel are not directly on top of each other, the POI will be offset some. This effect is more pronounced the farther you are shooting as well as with high mounted optics. At short distances you might have to be holding it at a 45 degree angle to be 2" out with a standard 1.5" mechanical offset, but at longer distances or more mechanical offset it will become more pronounced.

We adjust the sights to achieve a zero at a specific distance, that means the barrel is pointing up at an angle relative to the sighting system to eliminate the mechanical offset at that range. Whatever angle produces that result while fighting against gravity, turning the rifle 90 degrees will shift your POI sideways by that angle. Tilt the rifle to the left 20 degrees and you have shifted the POI left because the barrel is actually now angled slightly to the left instead of up, so it's not adjusted properly by windage. You would also have reduced the elevation adjustment causing longer shots to drift down.

At extremely short distances the shift in POI would be opposite because the barrel is actually to the right of the optic when the rifle is tilted left.

right handed shooter I'm assuming?

sounds like your driving the gun left, likely through clench response. slow down, breathe, focus on fundamentals, maintain trigger finger discipline. smooth squeeze with only your finger, not your entire hand or arm.
