I am looking to sell my pistol responsibly. Anyone have advice how to do that, other than to do it through an FFL? I am looking for how to identify a buyer and ensure proper exchange of $$s and weapon.

Some guys ask for a current conceal carry license. Other guys will have the person show ID and sign a printed statement that "they affirm they are legally allowed to own firearms" or "affirm they are not a prohibited possessor" . You can also try to sell to a collector at a gunshow, that's getting into the "selling to an FFL" territory which is of course the safest route.
