Experience the first look at SIG Sauer’s unannounced 11-inch M7A1 Spear prototype, a lighter, more agile evolution of the XM7 program designed to change how small units fight. In this video, we run the M7A1 through a full spectrum of testing: ballistic performance of the 6.8x51 hybrid round, short-barrel handling, recoil behavior, heat characteristics, controllability, and how the reduced weight impacts real squad-level tactics.
We break down how this rifle fits into the future of warfare—mobility-focused engagements, distributed operations, and modern battlefield threats. We discuss optical setups, recoil mitigation, soldier load considerations, and how a short-profile M7 platform might change the way teams maneuver, fight, and sustain fire under pressure.
This video is for educational and historical purposes only. All testing conducted in a controlled and professional environment.
